The Vancouver owner of this 2021 Bronco liked the truck, but it needed more bass. He wanted to keep as much cargo space as possible. He also wanted to be able to lift the subwoofer out himself when he needed the whole back of the truck.
Why a powered enclosure
A separate amplifier and a built enclosure sounds better in most vehicles. But it needs an amp rack, a power run, a remote lead and tools to remove the box. For this owner, an all-in-one powered enclosure made more sense.
We fitted the Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-10 — a 10″ woofer and a 300-watt amplifier in one slim enclosure. It needs a power feed and a signal feed, with no separate components to mount. The whole thing comes out as one piece.
How it turned out
Adding a subwoofer also helps the rest of the factory system. It handles the bottom two octaves that the door speakers struggle with. Midbass tightens up, voices sit further forward, and you don't need as much volume to hear everything.
The Bronco left sounding like it should have from the factory. Its owner can still clear the cargo area on his own in minutes.
